NEWS: MPACF Receives $80,000 Grant for Access Adventure Trail Addition!
The creation of a universally accessible Access Adventure Trail through Chipp-A-Waters Park is the centerpiece of an initiative to expand and enhance recreation opportunities for all citizens of all abilities in Isabella County.
The focal point of the project is the creation of a universally accessible Access Adventure Trail which will connect to the city's existing barrier-free Riverwalk Pathway and include a uniquely designed pedestrian bridge crossing the Chippewa River. The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the Access Adventure Trail occured on June 26, 2010.
The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation is one of eight community foundations in Michigan awarded an Access to Recreation grant intended to expand and enhance recreation opportunities for all citizens of all abilities. The Grant also provides $120,000 in matching funds towards the creation of a $240,000 Access to Recreation endowment fund which will provide financial support to this and future universal access to recreation projects in our community.
