Volunteer Center of Isabella County Fund
The Volunteer Center of Isabella County Fund was started in 1998 as a program of the United Way, with the goal of furthering volunteerism and increasing access to volunteer opportunities in the area. In its early stages, the fund received a matching gift from the Volunteer Investment Grant to get off to a strong start.
Amy Town, Community Impact Coordinator for the United Way of Isabella County, said opportunities generated by the fund will allow volunteers to find experiences they enjoy and to develop mutually beneficial relationships with the organizations they get involved with. “The more volunteers we have engaged in the community, the more stable the community is as a whole,” Town said. “Because the volunteers then have a vested interest in the success of community programs and organizations.”
The United Way of Isabella County has been in the community for more than 55 years, and part of its mission is to establish security for community programs which are essential to the residents here. The volunteer center was set up in 1994 to provide volunteers for these programs, and the fund was put in place to help support this cause.
Town said the goal is to continue growing the fund so Isabella County can continue to have “more volunteers in more places doing things they enjoy.
