Life Choices Parenting Program Fund
In 2006, Naomi and Jim Stark established what is now known as the Life Choices Parenting Program Fund. This program is designed to equip parents to manage the emotional as well as physical pressures that come with parenting. In this program, parents can earn credits, in the form of Baby Bucks, for attending classes while learning valuable parenting lessons. Parents may use Baby Bucks to purchase baby and toddler items, diapers, and a plethora of other items from the Joyful Beginnings Store.
Life Choices of Central Michigan (LCCM) has been serving the local community since 1986. Parenting Programs began in 2001, providing individualized lessons through the Earn While You Learn Program and the Joyful Beginnings Baby Boutique. Programming has grown to include group lessons entitled Ready to Learn, and a fatherhood program called Dads Matter. Parents who attend any one of these programs may earn Baby Bucks to purchase items in the Baby Boutique.
“The absence of positive parenting has a direct impact upon our entire community,” Mary Barz, President/CEO, said. “We believe that through education, the lives of those we serve will improve as parents learn the skills to provide safe environments, better communication, healthy nutrition, and a host of other relevant and engaging lessons. Our goal is to empower all parents to raise their children to the best of their abilities.”
Each year, LCCM parenting programs serve over 100 families. Investing in our youth and families is critical to the health and welfare of our community and investing in the Life Choices of Central Michigan Parenting Program Fund is investing in the future of our community.
