Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation awards more than $55,000 in scholarships during annual scholarship event

Mt. Pleasant, MI, May 24, 2010 – The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation hosted their 2010 Scholarship Reception, Thursday, May 13, at Buck’s Run Golf Club. The event recognized students who received one of 66 available scholarships.

 

During the reception, $55,250 in scholarships was awarded to area students. More than 260 guests attended the event to honor those for whom the scholarship funds are named and the scholarship recipients. Recipients ranged from middle school to college students, with most planning to attend an accredited college, university or trade school this fall. Each scholar was recognized for their achievements to date and lauded for their future academic plans.

 

This year, Community Foundation scholarships were awarded for the first time from the Christopher John Andera Memorial Fund, Matthew J. Boles Memorial Fund, James R. Hodgins Memorial Fund, Isabella Community Credit Union Members’ Fund, Gary Moe Memorial Fund, Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1959 Fund and the Matthew S. Sharrar Memorial Fund.

 

The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity that serves as the center for philanthropy in Isabella County. The Foundation allows people, organizations, and businesses to create or make contributions to permanently endowed funds, which benefit the community now and forever.
