Clothing, INC. finds a Permanent Home
Clothing INC has been providing free clothing and some financial benefits to individuals in our community since 2005. The mission of Clothing INC is to make an impact on the lives of underprivileged in the area by providing free clothes to those in need.
The Staples Family Fund and the Weisenburger Family Fund have provided funding for Clothing INC to help purchase three-drawer storage carts, large bins, 177 totes and a MacBook computer. Before the grant award, undergarments were stored in totes under the clothes and on racks. It was difficult for guests to find their sizes because they were required to go through all the disorganized bags and totes.
On April 22, 2017, more than 20 Eydent Insurance employees volunteered at Clothing INC to arrange clothing by size, and to label the large bins that will be used in the closet this fall and winter. A guest recently commented, “I like the look of your closet. The storage carts help me to find what I need without assistance.” The amount of clothing donated by the community has increased to fill a full shed several times a day.
The Director of SPARKS (a store for homeless students at Mt. Pleasant High School) visited the store many times in March and April. The director was happy to see what was available for their students. She had received several prom dresses, allowing the students to fulfil their dream of attending prom.
