Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation

For good. For ever.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Isabella County, now and for generations to come, by attracting and holding permanent endowed funds from a wide range of donors, addressing needs through grant making and providing leadership on key community issues.

Clothing INC Fund

Clothing INC originally opened its doors in 2013 with the help of members from The First Church of the Nazarene. Clothing INC now has a 5000-square-foot store for community members to shop for clothing, at no cost. They are one of the tenants housed in the William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center. This fund was established by Janet Maar Strickler for the benefit of Clothing INC.

In 2008, Eydent Insurance Services had the vision to adopt families in need for Christmas. They began collecting clothes, food, and other needed items. After a few years, there was a small stockpile of things in the church basement.  In 2013, a couple from the church saw a bigger need in our community; a place anyone could go to who was in need of clothes.  That’s where Clothing INC began.

In 2017, Clothing INC joined a collaborative effort in Isabella County to reduce poverty by partnering with the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, the United Way of Gratiot & Isabella Counties, and other local service organizations. They all worked together to form what would become the William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center.

Executive Director, Bryan Chapman, joined Clothing INC in 2017 shortly after the move from the church basement to the Strickler Center. Chapman says there has always been a tremendous need for clothing in our community and we wanted to be the ones to meet that need.

“It’s always been important to me that when people are in need, there is a dignified place for them to get assistance,” said Chapman.

Clothing INC also gives community members the opportunity to give back through donating clothing, volunteerism, and financial support.
