West Midland Family Center Fund
The West Midland Family Center (WMFC) is on a mission to enhance the quality of life for each generation by providing growth and achievement opportunities within a caring environment. Through education, recreation, and human services, we aim to help each community member today to reach their full potential tomorrow.
The West Midland Family Center has been providing services for families in need from Gratiot, Isabella, and Midland Counties for 50 years. In an effort to support more families, WMFC opened the Shepherd Community Preschool in 2013, providing two classrooms for children from low income families. Another preschool classroom was opened in St. Louis in 2016, and in 2023 WMFC opened the Winn Elementary Preschool location. As we enroll children into these preschool classes, we are able to provide a wide range of services to their families as well. Also in 2023, WMFC opened the West Midland Food and Clothing Depot, a surplus food and goods distribution center. “The Depot,” located just two miles east of the Isabella County line, hosts a monthly surplus food distribution to 300 families, as well as weekly surplus produce distributions. The Depot also schedules appointments for families in need of clothing or household goods. About 25% of the families visiting the Depot for food or household goods assistance are families from right here in Isabella County.
WMFC has started this fund in order to bridge the services we provide across the tri-county area. WMFC's location allows us to serve anyone looking for assistance; we don't look at county borders when families come to us for support. The funds raised through this agency fund will provide assistance to the families of children in our Isabella County preschools and those visiting our Food and Clothing Depot. Your contribution to our work will ensure the continuation of services for those most in need, making sure that each community member today reaches their full potential tomorrow!
