Kara's Korner Preschool Library Fund

Kara’s Korner Preschool Library Fund was established in May 2014 by Kara’s family. The fund will support Kara’s Korner, located inside the Veterans Memorial Library, by funding preschool-focused books and materials.

Kara Shirley

In the spring of 1985, 4-year-old Kara Shirley died in a tragic accident while playing at home with friends. Shortly thereafter, her family established the Kara K. Shirley Memorial (Kara’s Korner) at the library in memory of their sensitive and energetic preschooler.

Kara’s Korner has benefitted preschool children for decades and continues to memorialize Kara’s young spirit.

The Kara’s Korner Preschool Library Fund will add funds annually for books and materials that focus primarily on preschool education. Based on attendance and activities in Kara’s Korner, the funds will be well spent.
