Community Foundation Announces over $114,000 in Community Grants
MT. PLEASANT, MI – The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation is proud to announce that it has awarded $114,577 in competitive grants to organizations dedicated to serving Isabella County.
“These grants remind us of the incredible impact that personal generosity can have,” said Liz Conway, CEO/COO of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. “Our donors’ legacies live on through these gifts, creating ripples of hope and inspiration throughout our community.”
Art Reach of Mid Michigan received $2,000 from the Russ Herron Poetry Fund for the Wellspring Literary Series.
Bonny’s Clean Up Crew received $1,000 to purchase supplies supporting environmental cleanup efforts in downtown Mt. Pleasant and local community parks from the Community Impact Fund
The Blood Cancer Foundation of MI received $13,000 for its “Hope in Focus” project from the Kellogg Youth Fund and W.E. Martin Fund.
Christmas Outreach of Isabella County received $2,000 from the Paula Arndt Women’s Fund for the purchase of winter gloves, and an additional $3,500 from the Andy Wheeler Community Needs Fund, Community Impact Fund, Shepherd Community Fund Honoring Robert H. Bates, and Steve and Sue Pung Family Fund to provide essential household items to those in need this holiday season.
City of Mt. Pleasant received $14,388 for the Town Center Fire Pit Gathering Area project from the Community Impact Fund, Hersee Family Fund, Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, Jerry M. and Marilyn A. Morey Community Fund, and Sherman C. and Shirley J. Rowley Family Fund.
Clothing INC received $6,000 for the purchase of new socks and underwear from the Community Impact Fund, Denison Unrestricted Fund, and Women’s Initiative Fund.
Community Compassion Network received $2,000 to purchase infant and toddler formula for the infant pantry from the Mt. Pleasant Oil Industry Food Pantry Fund.
Hope Childcare Center received $3,700 from the Fisher Companies Community Impact Fund, Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, Tim and Mary Ann O’Neil Community Impact Fund, and Weisenburger Family Fund for the purchase and installation of an outdoor shed.
Isabella County Child Advocacy Center received $5,000 from the Women’s Initiative Fund for the Period of Purple Crying project.
Isabella County Historical Society received $7,000 from the Community Impact Fund, Jane McNamara and Louise Williams Fund, Summit Petroleum Fund, and W. Sidney Smith and Judith French Smith Family Fund for the digitization of Isabella County newspapers.
Isabella County Restoration House received $4,500 for the Guest Self-Sufficiency project from the Bovee Family Fund, Dr. Leonard E. and Louise A. Plachta Unrestricted Fund, Rapaport Family Fund, Ruth S. and Gerard R. Felter and Florence F. Battenfeld Family Fund, and Sullivan Family Fund.
Mt. Pleasant Public Schools received $10,000 from the Community Impact Fund, David B. and Susan K. Keilitz Family Fund, Dr. Leonard E. and Louise A. Plachta Unrestricted Fund, G. Charles and Janice L. Hubscher Fund, Theunissen Family Fund, and Women’s Initiative Fund for the Varsity Softball Renovation project.
PACE Central Michigan received $10,000 to assist with the purchase of a medical transportation van from the Isabella County Health Improvement Fund, Kay Smith Family Fund, Myler Family Community Impact Fund, and Ralph and Sonja Baumgarth Family Fund.
Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan received $10,000 from the W.E. Martin Fund for the 2026 Family Support program.
Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan received $10,000 from the Community Impact Fund, Fabiano Family Fund, G. Charles and Janice L. Hubscher Fund, Morning Sun Community Fund, and Ranck Family Fund to support the purchase of new equipment for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Library’s Library of Things.
Shepherd Public Schools received $3,859 for the German Exchange & Multicultural Experience program from the Shepherd Community Fund Honoring Robert H. Bates.
The Care Store received $6,630 from the G. Charles and Janice L. Hubscher Fund, John P. and Ann S. Jensen Community Impact Fund, Kimber and Judy DeWitt Family Fund, Sherwood Family Fund, William and Janet Maar Strickler Community Impact Fund, and Women’s Initiative Fund for the purchase of new hair care products, such as lice kits, hair brushes, and children’s shampoo.
