Annual Breakfast and Fourth Grade Assembly Recap
Shannon Fitzpatrick shares an inspiring keynote at the MPACF Annual Breakfast.
Community members, nonprofit partners, donors, and local leaders came together to celebrate another successful year of giving at the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation's Annual Breakfast on Thursday, October 22.
Sharing how receiving an MPACF scholarship helped launch her path to success, the morning featured keynote speaker Shannon Fitzpatrick, Associate Director for Flight Programs at NASA.
Since fourth grade, Rosebush native Shannon Fitzpatrick knew she wanted to be an astronaut. Instead, she went on to do what she says is even better than she could have dreamed: she sends robots into space.
The event also featured the Art Reach Youth Chorus, who sang the Star-Spangled Banner, and a presentation by Marilyn Powell, Youth Advisory Committee President, who spoke about youth philanthropy in our community.
After breakfast, Shannon visited Central Michigan University's campus and spoke with over 500 fourth graders from all Isabella County school districts about chasing their dreams and reaching for the stars.
From a local scholarship to space exploration, and back home to inspire the next generation, Shannon’s journey is a powerful reminder of what community generosity can make possible.
